Richard Keith Howen Obituary
Richard Keith Howen passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 8, 2014. A lifelong resident of Lodi, he was born to Edwin and Velda Howen on November 14, 1949. Rick was a slot car enthusiast, sailboat modeler and longtime member of the U.S. Vintage Model Yacht Club, competitive Trivial Pursuit champion and had a lifelong interest in hot rods. With a voracious appetite for victory, he earned accolades in multiple sports, including bowling, fastpitch softball, tennis, shuffleboard, billiards, golf and croquet. Rick was a fanatic gardener who mowed his own lawn to perfection, and a world class BBQ master with a talent for ribs. Always ready to lend a helping hand, many were thankful for how generous Rick was with his time. As an active member at St. Peter Lutheran Church, he volunteered to maintain the church facilities and one could often find him as a cast member in Church dramas. For 46 years Rick was employed in a variety of roles at Pacific Coast Producers in Lodi.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Diana Howen; daughter, Jennifer (Jack) Hsiao; son, Christopher Howen; brother, Ronald (Amy) Howen; sisters, Rochelle Perry and Marcia (Anthony) Radelat; and a large extended family who he loved and adored very much.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 16th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church (2400 Oxford Way, Lodi, CA). There is no visitation and the committal is private.
Please sign the guest book at www.lodifuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
