Frances went home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2014.
The Guest Book is expired.
Frances was born on August 17, 1913 to Ernest and Lola Mae Poe in Weldona, Colorado. When she was 13, she met the love of her life, Lester Faires and they were married in 1933. In 1937 Lester went to California for work and Frances followed him shortly with their two young daughters, JoAnn and Mina. Lester farmed for many years on Medford Island and during this time, their son, Bob and daughter, Pat joined the family. Frances worked as a cook for the tractor men and was also secretary for the Venice School District where Lester served as Clerk of the school board. In 1965 they moved off of the island and he continued to work with Flotill Cannery and she worked as an accountant for Lodi Unified School District and retired in 1975. Frances enjoyed people and after losing Lester she often walked to various nursing homes to bring cheer to others that she felt needed some extra love. Her hobbies were gardening, writing poetry and enjoying her family.
While serving as a Deaconess at Temple Baptist she met Daniel Cross and they were married in 1991 at the ages of 79. He passed away in 2007. She was a proud and dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church and enjoyed the recordings when she could no longer attend. She was also a member of the local Moose Lodge and recently received her 60 year pin. Her children, Jo Ann (Elvin), Mina (Bill), Bob (Gloria, deceased), and Pat (John), 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren, her brother Ernie, her sister Minnie and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John, Harry, and P.A., her sister Margaret, Lester Faires, Daniel Cross, and her granddaughter Melodie. She was an inspiration and she will be greatly missed.
