Kenneth Leonard Poirier Obituary
Kenneth Leonard Poirier earned his wings on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the age of 79. He was born on February 2, 1935, in Springfield Massachusetts, to Leonard and Edna Poirier. He lived there until he was 10 and moved to California where he lived and grew up in Stockton. He attended Stockton Unified Schools and Graduated from Stockton High. He was in the army during the Korean War as a PFC. He came back to Stockton where he then commuted to work in the bay area for The Foremost Dairy Company and then ended up at Alhambra Water of Hayward for 19 years. He went back to college where he earned his AA and BS Degree. Though after a health challenge in the early 80's he decided to find work closer to home where he raised his children. Which led him to retiring from the Stockton Record. Our Dad was active with giving his time to different Christian faith and father son organizations like YMCA, Y-Indian guides, Young men's Christian Assoc. of San Joaquin County, and many others like the Teamsters and United way.
He loved the out doors. We shared many memories that will never be forgotten like camping, bike riding, swimming, fishing, and much more. He went above and beyond what he could do as a great dad raising us!!
Our Dad was a loving, committed Husband, Father, Stepfather, Grandfather, Great grandfather to many of us. He is survived by His Loving Wife who he adored of 30 Years Sandra E. Poirier, 5 of his 6 children, 2 of 3 stepchildren, 18 of 22 of his grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.
Kevin and Laura Poirier, Marty Poirier, Steven Poirier, Jason and Kim Poirier, and Karyn and Keith Bussman, and is 3 loving stepchildren, Michelle Bents, William Blalock and Kathy Blalock.
Proceeded in Death by his son Brian Poirier, Stepson Davy Blalock, his Grandson Kyle Poirier & Grandson Kaden Bussman.
Services: Cherokee Memorial Park, 13951 N Beckman Rd. Lodi, Ca. 95240, in the Chapel of Flowers, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 9:00.
Viewing: Wednesday August 6, 2014 from 2-8pm at The Cherokee funeral home. 831 Industrial way, Lodi Ca. 95240.
