Richard George Yamauchi, age 57, of San Jose, CA and a native of Lodi, California passed away on Monday, February 15, 2010 at his childhood home in Lodi surrounded by his family after a long fight with pancreatic cancer. |
Richard was born in Lodi on April 26, 1952, to George and Yoshiye Yamauchi.
He graduated from Lodi High School in 1970, attended Delta College, then Fresno State and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in communications in 1976. He then moved to Portland, OR working side by side with his brother-in-law.
Since 1978, he has lived in San Jose until a week before his passing. He worked for North American Moving, Ford Motor Co. and various trucking companies. For the past five years he had his own business, RY Enterprises, a courier service.
Rich loved the ocean, walking on the beach, soaking up sunlight, just relaxing listening to the sounds of the waves. He also was an animal lover, he had many pets growing up.
His parents George and Yoshi, and an older sister Sharon Llewellyn preceded him in death.
Richard is survived by a sister Judy Klimko and husband Terry of Lodi; nieces Michele Chenoweth of Glendale, AZ, and Kimberly Llewellyn of Hollister, CA; also aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lodi Buddhist Church, 23 N. Stockton St, Lodi. Burial will be private in Cherokee Memorial Park.
The Funeral Planning Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, February 25th.
