Arthur "Art" Katzakian, Jr. regretfully passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, after struggling with congestive heart failure following a heart attack four years ago. He was 76.

Art was born in Acampo, California to Arthur and Betty Katzakian and grew up in Lodi. He graduated Lodi High In 1951. He served in the U.S. Army for two years before going on to the University of the Pacific where he graduated with a master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
He married Marlene Stellatino on July 24, 1960. The young couple settled in Sacramento where he was employed at Aerojet General as a research chemist in the Solid Rocket Division. He went on to earn his doctorate degree at U.C. Davis. He received numerous awards for his achievements before retiring Aerojet in 1993.
In 1975, the family moved to a five acre ranch in Elk Grove where he planted and raised kiwifruit, a project that required a lot of hard work but also brought him great pleasure.
He was loved for his easy going, kind and gentle nature and admired for his highly intellectual mind.
Art is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene Katzakian of Elk Grove; his daughter, Lori and her husband, Danton Gipson of Vacaville; his son, Craig Katzakian of Sacramento; and grandson, Carson Gipson of Vacaville; brother, Jerry Katzakian of Stockton; and sister, Marsha and brother-in-law, Bill Robb of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous loving relatives.
Friends are invited to visit Saturday and Sunday, May 1st and 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Services and committal are private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Art's name to PAWS, P.O. Box 849, Galt, CA 95632 or to SPCA, 6201 Florin Perkins Road, Sacramento, CA 95828.
