Lillian Bischof Obituary
Lillian Bischof passed away at the age of 89 in a local nursing home November 20, 2012 after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. She was born to Henry and Carrie Gimbel in McClusky, North Dakota December 10, 1922.
Lillian moved with her parents and family to Scottsbluff, Nebraska where she spent her childhood and elementary school years. Lillian moved with her parents and family to the panhandle of Texas, spending her teenage years and high school days in Texline, Texas.
She came to California by train in 1941. She had her nineteenth birthday while traveling to California to live with an Aunt in Stockton. She became a beautician and worked in Stockton for several years. She moved to Sacramento in 1953. Lillian entered in hair styling shows in San Francisco and the California State Fair, winning trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. She was proud of her accomplishments.
In 1965 Lillian moved to Lodi. She opened her own beauty shop, The Carriage Trade, which she owned and operated for ten years.
Lillian enjoyed traveling, playing golf, crafts, and crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. She loved her 1966 Black Ford Mustang, which she kept in mint condition.
Lillian is survived by two brothers; Henry and Leroy Gimbel of Wyoming, 3 sisters; Leona Melcher of Colorado, June Kelp of Texas and Ruth Ebel of Lodi, nephews; Craig (Lori) Lewis of Lodi, Joshua Lewis of Stockton, Byron Lewis of Lodi and many other beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
