Janice Irene Miller went home to be with The Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 after a long, courageous 9-year battle with cancer. She fought this terrible disease with incredible strength and amazing grace, continuing to think of others before herself as she did her entire life.
She was born in Sioux Falls, SD on January 15, 1944 to John and Irene Kramer and moved to California at the age of 9. She grew up in the Thornton/Galt area and attended local schools.
She had a long career in the produce industry and worked as a Floor Lady at Maggio Packing and Allstate Packers. She also worked at Tri-Valley Growers in Thornton for 27 years, ending her time there as a supervisor.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was a huge animal lover and her 'babies' gave her great joy and comfort. She had a great love for God and was a devoted member of Big Valley Bible Church.
Jan is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jim Miller of Lodi. Son Tom Greenwood of Modesto, son Dan (Tina) Greenwood of Colfax, daughter Tammy Miller and son Steve Miller, both of Lodi; brother Jeff Kramer of Valley Springs, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brother John Kramer.
Visitation will be Tuesday 1:00pm to 8:00pm and Wednesday 9:00am to 8:00pm at the Donahue Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00am at Big Valley Bible Church, 226 Poplar St., Lodi, followed by committal at Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Friends Connection or the Stanford Cancer Center.
