Vera Bittner, age 96, passed into eternal life on April 13, 2013 in Lodi. Born on December 7, 1916 in Lodi to Rosina Ackerman and Karl Neuharth, Vera remained a life-long area resident. In 1940 she met and married Raymond L. Bittner, and they welcomed a daughter Carol Rae, and two sons Robert Bruce and Kenneth Karl. After raising her family, Vera returned to school and graduated with honors, earning a degree in education from the then College of the Pacific. She worked for 20 years as an elementary school teacher, first at Woodbridge School and later at Houston School. Vera was an active and devoted member at her church – Cornerstone Church in Lodi. She was also a member of Omega Nu, Marc Club, Phi Kappa Phi and the Lodi Memorial Hospital Black Prince Auxiliary. She also enjoyed travelling and playing bridge with friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond Bittner who passed away in 1998, after 58 years of Marriage; 2 sisters: Emma Irey and Ella Warner, and a brother Eugene Neuharth. Vera is survived by her daughter Carol Sloane (Bill) of Irvine, sons: Robert "Bob" Bittner (Diane) of Portland and Kenneth "Ken" Bittner (Carolyn) of Tustin; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ruben Neuharth of Escondido, and Richard Neuharth of Lodi and a sister Dora Fleck of Lodi.
A memorial service to celebrate Vera's Life will take place at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Chapel at O'Connor Woods, 3400 Wagner Heights Rd., Stockton, CA.
