Calvin (Cal) Fredrick Kusler joined his Savior in Heaven on April 24, 2013, in Lodi, CA at the age of 83. Cal was born March 6, 1930 in Greenway South Dakota and attended school there. Cal farmed with his parents at Eureka, S.D. until 1952, when he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in Korea building landing strips. In 1954 he married DeLoris Reile at the E.V.B. Church in Ashley, N.D. They moved to Lodi CA where after doing some sales work, Cal started his own business with Rayne Water Conditioning. He later sold it and then worked in maintenance for Lodi Unified School District. After retiring from LUSD, he went into the business of selling and installing sprinklers and water softeners. Cal's work was a hobby for him. He loved people and he loved his work.

In 1954 Cal accepted Christ as his savior at a Billy Graham crusade in San Francisco. He was baptized by Rev. Eldon Shroeder and was a member at Temple Baptist Church. He loved ushering and sang in a men's chorus. He helped wherever he was needed. Cal's joy was his faith in The Lord and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would encourage them to live for Jesus so they can again be together in Heaven. His favorite Bible passages were 1 Peter 5:10, and Psalm 100. Cal was a member of the American Legion Post 22, served with the Lodi Police Partners, and was on the board of Lodi Cancer Kids.
Cal is survived by his wife DeLoris, daughters Cynthia Davis (husband Greg) of Lodi, Peggy Walters (husband Don) of Lodi, grandchildren, Chris Walters (wife Jen) of Lodi, Jennifer Walters of Lodi, Kelsey Walters of Stockton, Brady Davis (wife Brittany) of Sacramento, Breanne (Davis) Fusselman (husband Spencer) of Washington D.C., two great- grandchildren Jake and Claire Walters, brothers Rev. Howard Kusler of West Bend WI, and Ralph Kusler of Aberdeen S.D.
Cal was preceded in death by his son Royce Kusler, his parents Arthur and Lydia Kusler, sisters Erna Kusler and Violetr Kusler Wolff, and brother Milbert Kusler.
The graveside service will be private. A memorial service will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 801 Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi, CA, on Saturday May 4th, 2013 at 10:30 am. Memorials can be made to Temple Baptist Church or Lodi Cancer Kids, P.O. Box 1592, Woodbridge, CA 95258.
