Ernest (Ernie) Jerry Crusos, age 75, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on June 7, 2013, after a short, but hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in French Camp, California, on February 25, 1938, to Jerry and Viola (Mancuso) Crusos. A life long resident of Lodi, he was a 1955 graduate of Lodi High, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. After high school he spent 8 years in the Navy Reserve, and worked as a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years. He was also spent many years commercial fishing the coast of California from Fort Bragg to Half Moon Bay. For 45 years he owned Ernie's Tree land in Lodi. He spent much of his spare time fishing the waters of the Delta. He enjoyed pheasant and dove hunting locally, and hunted deer and elk in Colorado. After his retirement he farmed his cherry orchard and had a beautiful garden that he always made sure was big enough to share with family and friends. Ernest made many lasting friendships throughout his life and considered them his extended family, which continued until the day of his passing. Ernest lived for his grandchildren to whom he was known as Papou. He was a member of St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church. Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Lorene Crusos; sons, Ernest Crusos and Richard Crusos; daughters, Darla (Tom) Norman and Kathleen Traver; grandchildren, Amanda Crusos, Kaleb Crusos, Rachelle Norman, Rebecca Norman, Austin Norman, Nicholas Christian, Jessica Christian; sisters, Kathleen LaPonte, Katherine Bittner, and Athena Sutton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Viola Crusos, siblings, Sophia Stanley, Nick Crusos, and Regina McHan; Goddaughter, Georgia Detro. The family would like to thank Doctors Ronald Kass, Neelesh Bangalore, Henry Wong, Karl Gregorius, and Pak Chan. They would also like to thank the nursing staff and respiratory therapists at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stockton, and Father Pete of St. Basil's, not only for their care for Ernest in this difficult time, but the comfort they brought to his family and friends. Friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 13, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A Trisagion will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 7pm at Lodi Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 14, at 10am at St. Basil's Greek Orthodox Church. Committal will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, 920 W. March Lane, Stockton, CA 95207. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements
