Kenneth (Ken) Owen entered into rest & went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 17, 2013. He was 76 years old. He was born in Berryville, Arkansas, on Jan. 5, 1937, to Jack & Ressie Owen. He had 9 siblings. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Corbett & Jerry, and both parents. The family moved to Lodi in 1949. He attended Lodi High school & graduated in 1955. He joined the Navy in 1955, and served our country for four years. He met and married the love of his life, Janet Schlenker, in 1959. They were married for 54 years. He owned & operated "Ken Owen Landscaping" for 48 years. He loved making things beautiful, and excelled at it. Ken was a member of Century Assembly Church for 42 years. He served as a Deacon, on the Church Board, Sunday School Teacher, Royal Rangers Senior Commander, & Choir Member. He also was founder & Director of Christian Community Concerns in 1985. This organization was responsible for so many positive changes in Lodi. One he was most proud of was spearheading a successful "good neighbor store" program convincing businesses to place objectionable photos on magazines behind screens to prevent them from being offensive, especially to children. He also worked tirelessly on informing voters on where political candidates stood on moral issues by producing non-partisan Voter Guides available to the public. He fought hard to make our city the best it could be. He enjoyed playing guitar, and his favorite musician was "Chet Atkins." Ken also enjoyed helping people. He made such an impact on so many with his unselfish caring nature & his love of God. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Janet -- Three children-Todd Owen, Christine (Brent) Schock & Joey Cochrane, and three grandchildren ~ Parris (Chris), Marcus & Sarah. He is also survived by his siblings: Virginia Snyder, Geneva Morrone, Don (Marilyn) Owen, Carol Frost, Linda Lake, Judy (Dan) Phillips & Shirley Scriven, as well as 20 nieces & nephews.
