I knew Ed and felt tremendous affection for Eddie.
He would not like me to call him Eddie -- he demanded I call him Ed.
I lived about 200 yards from his house around 1967 - 1969.
He and I would drive around his father's property in a Dune Buggy.
Once, his father asked if I would be interested in helping the construction crew build a new barn near the landing strip.
Of course, I was! And, I thought I was being economical when I started to pick up nails that were dropped from the hands of the carpenters up above!
Mr. Vetter scolded me and explained that while it was good that I was trying to save the costs of nails, my time spent doing that was spent less productively. And, less cost-effectively!
Maybe that is why later on, I became what is called a 'Cost Accountant'?
Eddie and I would go to a nearby creek and try to catch frogs, but that was not really very fun.
Eddie showed me his plans on computer programming, and Wow!, what brilliance.
We watched the first year and a half of the brand new television series called "Star Trek" on his 2.25" SONY screen television.
What a fabulous guy!
He was always very nice to me and a very kind friend.
If I can, sometime in the future, I will definitely seek him out (listen to me, now!!) and even though he will be uncomfortable, I will hug him like moss on a brick!
Weird how things go, eh?
