COLUMBUS, Ind. — Naomi Rose Chambers, 80, of Columbus, Ind., passed from this life Tues., Dec. 17, 2013, at her home.
Born April 23, 1933, in Chapmanville, she was a daughter of the late Dennis Lee and Martha Jane Godby Jordan. Also preceding her in death were sisters, Frances Miller and Lucille Runyon.
Mrs. Chambers had sold advertisement for the Logan Banner in West Virginia in earlier life and she retired from the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation where she was the librarian at Rock Creek and Clifty Creek Elementary schools. She formerly served and was a former member of the Ogilville Christian Church and was a current member of Elizabethtown Christian Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Lizettes Home Ec Club.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, F. Doran Chambers, who she married June 11, 1954; children, Denise (Dale) Elder and Mark (Jennifer) Chambers, both of Columbus, Ind.; grandchildren, Jordan, Morgan and Elizabeth Elder, and Claire, Chloe, and Paul Joseph "PJ" Chambers; a sister, Joan Fortner of Logan, and a brother-in-law, Harvey Miller of Chapmanville.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Fri., Dec. 20, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Elizabethtown Christian Church.
