OMAR, W.Va. — Charles Darrell Johnson, 61, of Omar, passed away Tues., March 11, 2014, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 5, 1952, in Logan, he was a son of Gilbert L. Johnson of Omar and the late Jessie F. Layne Johnson. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Claudia Poole, and brother, Harold Johnson.
Charles was a Logan High School graduate, a member of the Shaffer AME Methodist Church in Omar, and a retired, disabled lab technician last working for Standard Laboratories.
In addition to his father, survivors include a son, Rashi Salon Rose (Mary Catherine) of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Andrea Campbell of Woodbridge, Va., and Shelia Bradsher of Washington, DC; one brother, Gilbert Johnson of Woodbridge; two grandchildren, Rashi Jr. and Autum, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Shaffer AME Church in Omar with Rev. Millicent Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Guyan Memorial Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer and one hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
