CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Charley French Adams, 83 of Chapmanville, went home to be with the Lord Mon., Oct. 14, 2013, at his residence.
Born March 10, 1930, at Verdunville, he was a son of the late Julius and Jane Hager Adams. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Hillard and Chauncey Adams.
Charley was a member of the New Life Praise Center. He was a minister, husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charley was combat wounded and received the purple heart, and also a member of the United Mine Workers and Iron Workers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sarah Duty Adams; one son, Jimmy (Mary Sue) Adams of Covington, Ga.; two sisters, Eleanor Dingess of Michigan and Von Stollings of Chapmanville; three brothers, Elias Adams of Holden, Franklin (Jean) Adams of Arizona and Norman (Anna Ruth) Adams of Michigan; three grandchildren, Johnny (Tannis) Adams of Chapmanville, Justin (Tiffany) Adams of Mansfield, Ga., and Jordan Adams of Covington; and five great-grandchildren, Sydnie, Emma, Charleigh, Levi and Noah.
Services will be held at noon Thurs., Oct. 17, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Alan James and Rev. Irvin Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Adams, Justin Adams, Jordan Adams, David Dingess, Chucky Adams and Butch Flint.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.

I miss my Uncle Charley so very much. You have touched my life to the core. I will always remember so many things but my favorite is the dinners that I had with you and my dad when you were working in Michigan. Love and prayers to each of our family members.
