STIRRAT, W.Va. — George Edward May Jr., 66, of Stirrat, departed this life Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his residence.
Born at Switzer, he was a son of late George Edward and Minnie Alice Holland May.
George was a retired deputy of Logan County, a veteran of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, a member of the American Legion and had worked as a door greeter at the Wal-Mart Super Center.
Those left to cherish his memories include one brother, John "Johnnie" (Diane) May of Rossmore, and two sisters, Flora Gay Tomblin of Omar and Judy May of Rossmore. George had some very special nieces and nephews that he loved like his own children, Donna and John Bartram, Chasity and Jimmy Meade, Donna Kay, Kimberly, Johnnie Lynn May, Lawrence "Bubby" May, Cindy Herndon, Jeff and Freddie Curnutte, April Tomblin, Dee Tomblin, Jennifer Bailey and "Budrow" Baisden, and William "Bub" (Aimee) Bailey; many great-nieces and nephews and two great-great-nieces. He was loved by many and never will be forgotten by the community. He will be missed by many family and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 29, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens with Military Grave Rites and with the ceremony of the Color Guard.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
