VERDUNVILLE, W.Va. — Jack Calvin Bailey, 84, of Verdunville, went to be with our Lord Mon., March 17, 2014.
Born Dec. 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Varres John and Bessie Helen Bailey. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donis Gene Bailey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Rosemary Hale Bailey; one son, Jerry (Debbie) Bailey of Williamsburg, Va.; one daughter, Kathy Bailey McGee of Waterford, Mich.; one brother, Fredrick (Nancy) Bailey of Gloucester, Va.; one sister, Sharon (Ron) Hurlocker of Mount Pleasant, N.C.; one granddaughter, Tryna (Dan) Fitzpatrick, and two step-grandchildren, Kim (Jason) Pully, and Allen (Jennifer) Bartram, all of Williamsburg, Va., and five great-grandchildren, Alexa, Ashlynn, and Addison Fitzpatrick, Carter and Parker Pully, and Tesla Bartram, all of Williamsburg.
He was a former manager of Valley Bell Dairy of Logan, and also a former salesman at the Logan Planning Mill in Logan. He was a deacon and choir member of the Maryetta Baptist Church, a trustee of the Bethlehem United Baptist Association, and a member of Logan-Mingo Gideon International. He enjoyed directing youth camp at the United Baptist Church Camp at Salt Rock for several years, and was also an assistant Boy Scout master at Verdunville. He enjoyed his time with friends and family fishing on Douglas Lake in Dandridge, Tenn.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Fri., March 21, at Maryetta United Baptist Church at Verdunville with Elder Lonnie Gore and Barney Goins officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Meade, Ralph Kirk, Jim Vance, and Gerald Kincaid.
Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Maryetta Church or the United Baptist Youth Camp at Salt Rock, WV.
