HOLDEN, W.Va. — Lois McKenna Hibbs, 77, of Holden, formerly of Farmington, passed away Tues., Nov. 19, 2013, at her home.
Born Nov. 30, 1935, in St. Albans, Long Island, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret McKenna.
Mrs. Hibbs was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Farmington prior to relocating to Holden. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved music, enjoyed cooking and baking, and collecting cookbooks and recipes. She also had a great love and compassion for children and animals. Mrs. Hibbs graduated from Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, N.Y. She was employed in a variety of clerical positions in New York, Texas, and Florida, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, John Hibbs, whom she married on October 6, 1957; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Martina Codispoti Hibbs of Holden and Michael and Lee Ann Hibbs of Rockledge, Fla; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Robert Truitt of Elon College, N.C.; four grandchildren, Matthew and Danielle of North Carolina and Wyatt and Nicholes of Florida; sisters, Florence Zimmer of Illinois, Joan Hanousek of New York, and Patricia Jangie of Florida; one brother, John McKenna of Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 23, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Logan with Father Yesu Golla officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Honaker Funeral Home.
