Odis Ratcliff

LOGAN, W.Va. — Mr. Odis Ratcliff, 95, of Justice Addition, Logan, passed away Wed., Jan. 15, 2014, at his residence with his family.

Born Jan. 30, 1918, at Hazard, Ky., he was a son of the late Issac and Gladys McCormick Ratcliff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys "Pinky" Ratcliff, and several brothers and sisters.

Odis was retired from working at Island Creek Coal Company and being the owner and operator of Central Gulf Service Station at Holland Lane in Logan. Odis has served on many civic organizations including the Community Fund for 54 years, American Red Cross for 54 years, Salvation Army for 50 years, Crippled Children Society Board for 45 years, Past Bank Director at National Bank of Logan and Chase Bank, Logan General Hospital Board, Past President and the only life member of the Logan Lion's Club. He will be remembered as the "fruitcake" and broom salesman of the Logan Lion's Club. Odis was also a member of the Justice Christian Church, 50 year member of Aracoma Lodge No. 99, Logan Eastern Star, A 32nd degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason, and the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple at Charleston.

Survivors include his daughter, Hollie (Harold) McMillen; granddaughter, Alisa Dawn Hensley; two very special great-grandsons, Brandyn Trey and Cameron Allen Hensley; one sister, Dorothy (William) Carrere; one special niece, Ruth Ann Steen; a very special friend, "Honey" Granny Millie Evans; several other nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sat., Jan. 18, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Bill McDonald officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Pallbearers will be Odis' Masonic Brothers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Scaggs, Buddy Ferrell, Leonard Hovis, Mike Stone, Scott Stone, Scottie Ellis, Jack Stone, Drexel Meade, Larry Roark, Roger Hughes, Fred Clark, Steve Cloninger and members of the Lion's Club.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Logan Regional Medical Center and Dr. Billy Mullen and all of his staff.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
