CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Ralph Ojay Jeffrey, 82, of Chapmanville, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 29, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born November 28, 1930, he was a son of the late Sidney and Carrie Jeffrey. Also preceding him in death were two daughters, Clara and Carrie Jeffrey; his first wife, Bertha Jeffrey; brothers, Wetzel and Guy Jeffrey; a sister, Herma Ellis; brothers-in-law, Clifford Ellis and Ray Peterson, and sister-in-law, Jessie Lee Jeffrey.
Ojay served his country starting at the age of 17 in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for CSX Railroad as a machinist retiring in 1995. He was a dedicated Christian and a member of the VFW Post 6163 of Chapmanville, DAV Chapter 39 of Harts and American Legion Post 19 of Logan. Ojay enjoyed watching sports, a Cincinnati Reds fan, loved a late night "sweet" snack, and most of all he loved spending time with his wife, family and friends.
Those surviving to love and cherish his memories and spirit include his wife, Billie M. Jeffrey; son, Dana (Janice) Jeffrey; step-son, Ron Morton; three step-grandchildren, Jacob and Tabitha Morton and Crystal Hannah; two sisters, Lydia Peterson and Barbara (Larry) Robison; brother, Kenneth (Carol) Jeffrey; sister-in-law, Norma Jeffrey; many nieces and nephews; his pet cats, and many other relatives and friends.
In keeping with Ojay's wishes there was no calling hours. He was cremated
Military Graveside Rites were held at 6:30 p.m., Tues., Oct. 1, at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
James Funeral Home of Aracoma was in charge of arrangements.
