Wilma Gibson

MALLORY, W.Va.- Wilma Jean Chandler Gibson, 75, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born May 4, 1938, in Alkol, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Roy Hubert and Lillie Arbra Lovejoy Chandler.

Wilma was a lifelong member of Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and feeding all that came to her door. She loved to joke and laugh with everybody. She dearly loved to testify by talking about her Lord. She will be so sadly missed by all her who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denny Charles Gibson. A son, Randall Gibson and special brother-in-law, Frederick Thomason also preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish Wilma's memory are her children: Sherry Sumdum and husband, Christopher of Gilman Bottom, Melba Porter and husband, David of Gilman Bottom, Keith Gibson and wife, Summer of Whitman, Brenda Harper and husband, Danny of Gilman Bottom and Donald Gibson of Gilman Bottom. She also leaves behind grandchildren: Don Gibson, Heather Frazier, Kristy Goodman, Michael Gibson, Keeley Porter, Sydnee Porter, McKinlee Porter, Brody Porter, Derrick Gibson, Amy Gilco, Brandi Gilco, Allie Harper, Douglas Harper, Braxton Harper, Hannah Gibson, Devon Gibson and a step grandson, Mandrell Harper. She will also be dearly missed by her sister, Barbara Thomason of New Martinsville, a very special niece, Lori Brill and her husband, David and their children, Jacob and Hunter, 17 great grandchildren, and of course, her loving companion; her little dog, Copper.

A celebration of Wilma's life will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Greenbranch Freewill Baptist Church at Man, with the Rev. Alfred Butch Cobb and Bro. Robert Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. The family will receive friends from 6 - 9 p.m., Friday, October 4, at the church.

Those serving as pallbearers will be: David Porter, Danny Harper, Christopher Sumdum, Aaron Frazier, Derrick Gibson, Don Gibson, Mike Gibson and Devon Gibson.
