WAYNE, W.Va. — Clifford Ray Dent, 82, of Wayne, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013, at his residence.
Born December 9, 1930, at Breeden, he was a son of the late Leo F. and Alma Francis Dent. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Ollie Marcum Dent, in 2006; an infant daughter, Anita Dent, and a sister, Velma Taft.
Clifford was a retired car salesman and served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was Baptist by faith, a 32 Degree Mason and member of Kermit Lodge 167, AF & AM, whose members will conduct graveside rites.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen (Jeff) Spade of Culloden, Lonella (Joseph) Harding of Nitro, and Kimberly (Bob) Stagg of Charleston, S.C.; four sons, Tom (Marie) Dent of Wilsondale, Victor (Linda) Dent of Columbia, S.C., Ben Dent of Lexington, S.C., and Michael Ellis of Virginia; two sisters, Virginia (Howard) DeVoe of Columbus, Ohio, and JoAnn Ward of Garden City, Mich.; a brother, James M. (Liz) Dent of South Carolina; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and a host of friends including a special friend, Delores "Blue Eyes" Lewis, and all of his "Karaoke" family.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel at Wayne with his son-in-law, Joseph Harding, officiating. Burial will follow at the Nelson Cemetery at Kirk.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
