Euel W. Estep

HUDSON, N.C. – Euel W. Estep, 89 of Hudson, N.C., went home to be with his Lord Thurs., July 17, 2014.

Born July 31, 1924, in Big Ugly, he was a son of the late Herston and Minnie Duty Estep. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Euel was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to sing bluegrass gospel and was a member of Crossroads Trio. He retired from Chapmanville High School after 17 years, and was loved by all the kids at the school. Euel was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II. At his nursing home he was known as the best dressed resident as he had an outfit for every occasion/holiday.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Frances Estep; children, Linda Clanton of Cleveland, Tenn., Indialyne Pinto and husband Ray of Titusville, Fla., Connie Ketter and husband Gene of Gallatin, Tenn., Joe Estep and wife Cindy of Charlotte, N.C., and Sarah Stafford and husband Jimmy of Hudson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at 3 p.m. Mon., July 21, at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Rev. Jeff Burkhimer officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
