HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Mr. Grover Daniel "Butch" Butcher, 80, of Huntington, formerly of Chapmanville, was born August 20, 1933, in Randolph County, a son of the late Clyde and Lydia Shiflett Butcher. He departed this life Mon., Nov. 25, 2013, at Cabell-Huntington Medical Center in Huntington.
Mr. Butcher was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict, attended Village Chapel Church in Chapmanville, retired from the Logan County Board of Education after 32 years and also worked for over 45 years at the Logan Country Club. His hobbies included watching the news and westerns and working.
Also preceding him in death was his wife, Nellie; daughter, Marsha Sanders; siblings, Gray Butcher, Minter Butcher, Grace Roberts, Betty Barker, Eugene Butcher, David Butcher and Marie Ritchie, and grandson, Corey Butcher.
Survivors include his sons, Rodney (Sherri) Butcher of Chapmanville and Scottie Butcher of Huntington; grandchildren, Heather Butcher (Stephon McCloud), Gloria (Josh) Marcum, April Lovell, Erica Lovell and Melissa Meadows; great-grandchildren, Kory Sanders, David Meadows, Chasity Mullins, Magnus Miller, Robert Lee, Brenna Lanham and Scarlet Rose Dingess; sisters, Ellen Delaney and Carolyn Crowder, and special brother-in-law, Henry "Frog" Conley.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 30, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Bobby G. Belcher and Rev. Allen Martin officiating.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
