Jewell Smith Coffindaffer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Mr. Jewell Smith Coffindaffer, 90, of Charleston, died Sat., Aug. 23, 2014, at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston. He was born October 15, 1923, at Kincheloe, W.Va., the son of the late Dempse and Lillian McLain Coffindaffer.

Mr. Coffindaffer served during World War II in the U.S. Navy "Seabees". He was retired from the IBEW Local No. 466 where he was a master electrician. He was also a member of the Salina Masonic Lodge No. 27 AF&AM at Malden, and also a Shriner in the Beni Kedem Shrine Club at Charleston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Coffindaffer; grandson, Larry Keith "Daffer" Coffindaffer II, and brother, Charles "Major" Coffindaffer.

Survivors include his son, Larry Keith (Linda McCoy) Coffindaffer of Chapmanville; grandchildren, Cindy Coffindaffer (Anthony) Colasante of Morgantown, Ryan C. Vance of Chapmanville, and MSgt. Leslie Vance, serving in Afghanistan, (Jay) Wagner of Bossier City, La.; great-grandchildren, Haley Ryann Vance, Lindsay Faith Byer, Domenic Steven Colasante and Quinton Boone Wagner; nephew, Jim Coffindaffer, and special schnauzer puppy, Tasha.

Services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tues., Aug. 26, at Cunningham Memorial Park Mausoleum at St. Albans with Rev. John Freeman officiant. Entombment will follow with Military Graveside Rites.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
