Roger Maynard

SALT ROCK, W.Va. — Roger C. Maynard, 66, of Salt Rock, was born June 16, 1947, in Delbarton. He passed away Fri., Jan. 17, 2014, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Preceding him in death was a son, Roger Clinton "Bucky" Maynard Jr., and a niece, Jessica Cole.

Roger was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart medal. He was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers and a public accountant.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Maynard; parents, Mabel and Shirl Maynard; one sister, Jeanie (Garry) Cole of Logan; two daughters, Christine Maynard of Columbus, Ohio, and Jennifer Maynard (Brent) Browning of Hamlin; one step-daughter, Carla Vance Hesseltine of Virginia Beach, Va.; two step-sons, Paul B. Isaacs of Branchland, and Rusty (Kris) Vance of Franklin Furnace, Ohio; three grandchildren, Austin Cooper, Brandi Isaacs and Shelby Browning, and four nephews, Garry Lee Cole, Samuel Gabbert Jr., Jason Davidson and Justin Davidson. He was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather and friend.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Mon., Jan. 20, at Handley Funeral Home at Hamlin with Pastor Pete Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill where a military graveside service will be conducted by American Legion Post 111 of Hamlin.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
