DANVILLE, W.Va. — Adeline Eva Brown, 93, of Danville, went home to be with the Lord Sat., March 1, 2014, at Hubbard Hospice House at South Charleston.
Born Jan. 14, 1921 at Notomine, she was a member of The Blair Church of God at Danville.
Adeline loved to read her Bible and pray. She enjoyed singing solos in church. As a young woman, Adeline played harmonica and played piano. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to walk.
Ms. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Brown Sr.; parents, Edward Riley Lawrence and Mary Ann McVickers; sisters, Beulah Rouse, Nellie Williams, Alice Murphy and Dolly Ballard; half-sister, Anna Hamilton; grandson, Kenneth "Kenny" Russell, and great-grandson, Noah Robert Brown.
Survivors include a half-brother, Robert (Nancy) McVickers; daughters, Nellie (Ray) Warrer of Sandusky, Ohio, and Marcella (Ronald) Blake of Danville; son, James R. Brown Jr. (Linda) of Whitesville; daughters, Patricia (James) Browning of Lorain, Ohio, Barbara (Glen) Garner of Hagerstown, Md., and Shirley Brown of Alum Creek.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., March 5, at Handley Funeral Home with her grandsons, Jerry L. Browning, Samuel R. Browning and Robbie Carl "Robbie" Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park at Madison.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
