GREENVILLE, S.C. — Andy Carper Jr., 75, of Greenville, S.C., husband of Montee Martin Carper, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tues., April 1, 2014.
Born in Logan County, he was a son of the late Andy Carper Sr., and Retha Warren Carper. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Carper, and two sisters, Ethel Mae Hatfield and Millie Dingess.
Mr. Carper attended Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he was involved with the Victory Bible Fellowship Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Zupan and Smith. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and Bluegrass gospel music. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 49 years, are a daughter, Melissa Carper (Paul) Bailey; a grandchild, Andy M.C. Bailey; two brothers, Sam and Dan Carper, and five sisters, Betty Lyall, Rainelle Browning, Maxine Winters, Lorraine Carroll, and Linda Chase.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sat., April 5, in Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, chapel. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, West.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
