CORA, W.Va. — Catherine Louise "Cathy" Chafin Belcher, 55, of Cora, passed from this life Wed., Nov. 13, 2013, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston.

Cathy was a Christian and member of the Yuma Church of Christ.

Born August 2, 1958, in Fairmont, she was a 1976 graduate of Logan High School, and was employed by the Kroger Co. for 35 years where she held the Head Checker position and was Union shop Steward.

Preceding her in death was her father, William "Tony" Johnson, in 2003, and husband, Jim Chafin in 1994.

Survivors include her mother, Sylvia Hart Johnson of Roanoke Va.; husband, Michael Belcher; two loving sons, Joshua Anthony "Josh" Chafin, 27, of the home, and Matthew Lee Quinn "Matt" Chafin, 24, and his wife, Samantha, and their child, Emily Lynn Chafin (Cathy's precious grandchild) of Omar; sisters, Lisa Bailey and her husband David of Roanoke and Toni Marie Johnson of St. Albans, and her son and Cathy's special nephew, Jay Carozza of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother, William "Bill" Johnson Jr. and his wife Carla of Leesburg, Va., and an extended family of aunts and uncles and cousins. All of her family loved her dearly. Cathy will especially be remembered by her co-workers, many who called her by her nickname "mamm" because of her motherly love and direction. The genuine care she had for them all will not be forgotten. She also loved the customers that became special friends over the years, there were many.

A memorial service will be held at the Yuma Church of Christ Mon., Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. with Denny Collins and Cliff Collins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Yuma Church of Christ, 291 Yuma Rd., P.O. Box 1987, Logan, WV 25601, designated for the Youth Group Food Pantry, a cause close to Cathy's heart. Condolences may be left at
