WINSTON SALEM, N.C. — Don Richards, 81, of Winston Salem, N.C., formerly of Logan, passed away Tues., Jan. 14, 2014.

Born Jan. 24, 1932, in Henlawson, he was a son of the late Ruford and Dolly Richards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney; grandchild, Rodney "Bo" Richards, and brothers, Ralph and Vernie Lee Richards.

Don was a member of the Warners Chapel Church of Christ in Clemens, N.C., and a former member of the Yuma Church of Christ. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Don also worked at the James Funeral Home for over 40 years.

Survivors include his sons, Steve Richards of Winston Salem, and Mike Richards of Logan; grandchildren, Brean Richards of Randleman, N.C., Kimberly Johnson of Columbus, N.C., and Michael Richards of Montgomery, and sisters, Agnes Del of Mitchell Heights, Imogene Hurley and Joan Hurley, both of Logan, Joyce Cyrus of Dayton, Ohio, and Glennon Lay of Gainesville, Fla.

Services will be held at noon Sat., Jan. 18, at James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denny Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of arrangements.
