Harold "Dean" Lilly
STATESVILLE, N.C. — Harold "Dean" Lilly, 80, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Tues., July 1, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Born May 22, 1934, in Beckley, he was a son of the late Hobert and Elsie Fink Lilly.
Dean, as he liked to be called, was a long time radio personality of more than 45 years. He was the choir director at Monticello Baptist Church at Statesville and was married to the late Nancy Lee Lilly, who died in 2011.
Those left to cherish his memory are Richard Lilly (Missy) of Camden, S.C., Randell Lilly (Crystal) of Pennsylvania, Wendy Lee (Rick) of Martinsburg, James Lee (Rhponda) of Winston-Salem, Don Adkins (Doug) of Salisbury, N.C., and Jack Lee (Lisa) of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Ricky D. Lilly of Logan, Ryan A. Lilly of Cross Lanes, Joey Justice IV of Logan, Mary Beth Lee of Raleigh, and Jeffery Motes; great-grandchildren, Ali Ferrell of Chapmanville, Decklen Lilly of Mill Creek, and Phoenix Lilly of Logan, and a host of friends.
As Dean's body was donated to Duke, there will be a memorial service at Monticello Baptist Church in Statesville at 2 p.m. Sat., July 5, with Rev. Dr. Bobby Henderson officiating.
He will be missed by family and friends. One day he will meet us at the gate, as those who had gone before him, met him.
