ELLIJAY, Ga. — James L. "Jimmy Lou" Davis Sr., 63, of Ellijay, Ga., passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013
Born January 17, 1950, in Huntington, he was a son of the late E.M. "Mack" and Eleanor Davis. Also preceding him in death was his first wife, Barbara.
Jim was raised on Buffalo Creek at Stowe, a graduate of Man High School, attended Marshall University, and worked as a jet engine mechanic for Eastern Airlines in North Carolina and Florida. He later worked on high speed sorting equipment for the post office in Atlanta, Ga., until he became ill. Jim was a talented musician and enjoyed playing his guitar with friends, family and his church. He fought a very courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Heacock Davis; son Lou Davis and his wife Denyel and their children, Haley, Marie, Lillian and Brooke; son Mark Davis and his wife Lindsey and Skylah; daughter Anita Byrd and her husband, Wesley, and their children, Julianne and Penelope; siblings, Emerson Davis and Jeanne Ann McClung, and a host of additional family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 28, at the East Ellijay Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Yukon Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Bernhardt Funeral Home in Ellijay.
