LOGAN, W.Va. — Johnnie Lee "Monk" Trent, 59, of Logan, passed away Tues., Oct. 15, 2013, at his residence.
Born Nov. 22, 1954, in Logan County, he was a son of Samantha Jane Glandon Trent of Logan and the late Chester Arthur Trent. He was also preceded in death by his step- father, Donald R. Trent.
Johnnie served in the U. S. Marine Corp., and worked as a sawmill laborer. He loved playing Bingo and working with wood and making crafts and furniture. He tried to help his neighbors any way he could.
Additional survivors include one son, Michael (Leslie) Gibson of Monaville; two daughters, Trina (Bill) Craddock of Madison and Kristy (Junior) Goodman of Bruno; two brothers, Chester Arthur Trent of Logan and Kenny Trent (companion Shelia Rainwater) of Justice Addition; one sister, Magdelene (Norman) Flaig of Crete, Ill.; nine grandchildren; two nieces; five nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; life-long friends, Ed Reed of Lyburn and Earl Cook of Omar, and numerous Bingo buddies.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Mon., Oct. 21, at Honaker Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Robinette officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Friends may call on the family one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include nephews Norman R. Flaig, Timmy Flaig and Gary Flaig; son-in-law Bill Craddock, and brothers Chester Trent and Kenny Trent, Joey Rainwater.
