CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — Kenneth James Ward, 64, of Chapmanville, departed this life on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at his residence surrounded by family and friends.
He was born February 2, 1949, a son of Carl K. Ward, of Chapmanville, and the late Jean Ward.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alan Ward and his grandparents, Susie & Clyde Hood.
Kenneth was a member of North Fork Church of Christ. He loved camping, fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Kenneth served four years in the Navy.
In addition to his father, those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda F. Ward of North Fork; one daughter, Kimberly (David) Sperry; one son, James (Donna) Ward; two sisters, Virginia (Trevie) Oney of Tennessee and Jeannie (Scott) Fleming of Chapmanville; seven grandchildren, Steven (Tisha) Sperry, Shani Sperry, Katlyn Sperry, Travis Ward, Hannah Hollar, Hayley Hollar and Hayden Hollar; and his very special friend that he loved as a brother, Bert Compton.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Ronnie Linville and Rev. David Sperry officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Pecks Mill, W.Va.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 15, 2014, from 6 - 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
