Lane Whitman

EATON, Ohio — Lane Autry Whitman, 74, of Eaton, Ohio, formerly of Chapmanville, passed away Mon., July 14, 2014, at Dayton VA Hospital Hospice Unit at Dayton, Ohio.

Born June 27, 1940 in Logan, he was a son of the late Enoch and Fay Farmer Whitman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James O. Whitman.

Mr. Whitman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years, serving two tours in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his sons, Paul G. (Carol) Whitman of Medina, Ohio, Doulphus D. (Beverly) Whitman of Eaton, Ohio, and Enoch (Renee) Whitman of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; brother, William H. (Carol) Whitman of Plandome, N.Y.; sisters, Regina Bromley of Baltimore, Md., and Betty Workman of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandsons, Chad and Chase Whitman of Medina; granddaughters, Chelsa Whitman of Brunswick, Ohio, Charissa Whitman of Medina, and Nayla Whitman of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Kaley, Albaney, Michael, Jocelyn and Matthew; maternal aunt, Emma Butcher of Chapmanville; six nieces; two nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Friends may gather with the family from 10-11 a.m. Sat., July 19, at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville.
