HERNANDO, Fla. — Navaratna Siromani Bellam passed away Sun., Nov. 10, 2013, in Hernando, Fla. Siromani was a long-time resident of Man until moving closer to family in Florida.
Born in India in 1941, Siromani raised four children with her husband, Dr. Radha Krishna Murty Bellam, before moving across the world to Man in 1977 where her husband Dr. Bellam worked as a physician at the Appalachian Regional Hospital and the Community Health Foundation until retiring in 2009. Siromani was an avid gardener.
An active member of the Garden Club, she filled her front yard with rosebushes, hydrangea, and giant sunflowers that spilled over the sidewalk on McDonald Avenue. She attended Bruce McDonald Memorial Methodist Church and helped at the food pantry at First Baptist Church, both in Man. While A.R.H. was still open, she participated actively in the medical alliance, helping to organize events like Doctor's Day each year. Her smiling face welcomed many at the A.R.H. gift shop where she volunteered for years.
She will be missed by her loving husband, Radha Krishna Murty Bellam, and her four children and their spouses: Rajendra and Radha Bellam, formerly of Man, now of Hernando, Jayasree and Prasadarao Mukkamala of Charleston, Siva Prasad and Vijaya Bellam of Palm City, Fla.; and Udayasree and Vasudeva Dhulipala of Alexandria, La. Her memory will be cherished by her nine grandchildren: Madhuri, Neeharika, Radhika, Naveen, Muralikrishna, Sireesha, Swathi, Nikhitha, and Krishna; and her four great-grandchildren: Snehaja, Jhansi, Lekha, and Rahul; as well as countless members of her extended family here in the United States and back home in India.
Her family will have a traditional memorial service at home in Florida on Sat., Nov. 16.
Prayers are welcome.
