William Acord

William Michael "Boots" Acord, 53, of Cow Creek departed this life, October 19, 2013, from CAMC General Division Hospital, Charleston, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Williams Mountain in Boone County.

He was born April 20, 1960, at Logan, W.Va. to Barbara Jones Smith of Cow Creek, and the late Rush "Moose" Acord. Also preceding him in death was his uncle Weed Acord, and one very special brother-in-law Kevin "Gov" Adkins, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was employed at Electronic Labs Inc. and served for five years on the Omar Area Crime Watch. Michael was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Norma (Adkins) Acord; four children, Robert Piercey of Cow Creek, Becky Piercey of Switzer, Cody Piercey of Cow Creek, and Kyle Topeka of Cow Creek; four grandchildren, James and Kevin Piercey of Rossmore and Paige and Christian Maynard of Switzer; one brother David "Hubba"(Sandra) Acord of Huntington; and two sisters Terri (Johnny) Adkins of Delbarton, and Maggie (Loyd) Ramsey of Braxton County, and his special friends Rusty Acord, Bobby Tomblin, Charles "Binky" Spaulding, and Durrany Walls.

A Memorial will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Collins Funeral Home Chapel, with Brian Tomblin officiating.

Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is in charge of the arrangements.
