JUSTICE ADDITION, W.Va. — Samantha Jane Glandon Trent, 85 of Justice Addition, formerly of Man, went home to be with Jesus Tues., July 29, 2014. Samantha drifted peacefully away to sleep at St. James Hospital on the Hospice floor in Chicago Heights, Ill., at 7:05 CST, 8:05 EST.
Born June 20, 1929, at Christian, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Maude Carter Glandon. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Arthur Trent; her second husband, Donald R. Trent; one son, Johnnie Lee Trent; five brothers, Dale Glandon, Audrey Glandon, Earl Glandon, Donald Ray Glandon and Orville Augustus Glandon, and three sisters, Goldie Goodman, Odessa Johnson and Janice Ellis.
Jane was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress at the Man Smokehouse for many years. She could make the best hot dogs and hamburgers you could ever eat. While working at the Smokehouse, she would have breakfast on the grill and ready by 5 a.m. She loved listening to her gospel CDs and enjoyed having the bible read to her. Mom and Lacy Lane, her soon to be granddaughter, would laugh and play with dolls for hours on end. Lacy would take one doll at a time to mom's bed and they would tell each other stories about the doll. Lacy would then take the doll back to the sofa and get another one. She also loved to play ball with her little Doberman Pincher, Sami Jane. Sami was named after her, since they shared the exact same personality. Every evening mom would ask, "where is the baby Sami Girl?".
She is survived by her children, Magdelene (Norman) Flaig of Crete, Ill., Chester Arthur Trent of Logan and Kenneth Ray Trent (Sheila Gay Bostic) of Justice Addition; one sister Josie (Roy) Estep of Crown Point, Ind.; one brother, Johnny (Phyllis) Glandon of Bruno; grandchildren, Norman Flaig, Timothy Flaig and Gary (Christine) Flaig, all of Crete, Adam (Laura) Trent of Elkhorn, Lisa Wilkes of Elkin, N.C., Samantha (Daniel) Nelson of Logan, Richard Trent of Ashville, N.C., Michael (Leslie) Gibson of Verdunville, Kristy (Thurman) Goodman of Bruno, Trina (William) Craddock of Madison, and Gwendolyn Elaine, Joseph and Lacy Lane Rainwater, all of Justice Addition. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
