Joe Campoy

LOGAN, W.Va. — Joe Campoy of Logan passed away August 7th, 2014.

Born March 6, 1937, in Holden, he was 77-years-old. He was the son of the late Andres "Andy" Fernandez Campoy and Anna Rado Campoy and grandson of the late John and Kady Decker Rado of Holden. In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Isabelle Campoy Barber, Marie Campoy Navicki and Sylvia Campoy Pritchard, and two brothers, Johnny Campoy and Ralph Campoy.

Joe will be remembered by the way he profoundly touched all of our lives. He was well known in the Logan and Holden communities where he had many close, life-long friends. Joe proudly served in the United States Army achieving the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a director of Coal Preparation for Island Creek Coal Company for 37 years before retiring in 1993. Joe loved walking, golf and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be forever known as their beloved "Papaw". Joe was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances Giusti Campoy; sons, Joseph Paul (Jill) of Nicholasville, Ky., and Timothy Mark (Marietta) of Pikeville, Ky.; his granddaughter, Rachel; grandsons, Caleb and Nathan; step-grandsons, Andrew and Christopher, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 561 Main St., in Logan at 11 a.m. Saturday August 9th. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

The family will receive visitors Friday evening, August 8th, from 6-9 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home, 200 Main St, in Logan, with a scripture reading at 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Building Fund.
