Liberace, Robert

Robert Liberace of Pomona, NY died Saturday June 22 at the age of 80. He was born April 20th 1933 in Medford Massachusetts to Al and Rose Liberace. A child prodigy in music and art, he was privileged to attend the Vesper George School Harvard University at the age of 10 and was the recipient their annual portrait competition award in his first year there. A talented violinist he performed many solo recitals as a child and a teenager. He graduated from Tufts University, 1959, in Pre-Med and English Literature. During his life he continued to pursue his passion for art, science and held a life long love of classical music.

He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii where he was an MP He used his talents in cartooning to document his time there and did murals for army bases

In later life, he worked for Proudfoot & Company Consultants and also The American Management Association as a Program and Management developer. He co-authored a number of books and articles on management development and was a former member of the board at Finkelstein Memorial Library, Spring Valley.

A man of strong intellectual vigor with an enjoyment of debate, he was fond of storytelling, and is specially remembered by his family for the mythical "Garufalo". As great believer in alternative medicine, he was happy to pass on many anecdotes and antidotes to any who asked.

He is survived by his wife Maire Keena Liberace, five children, Ellen, Rose (Peter), James (Sonya), Robert (Lina), Mairead (Andrew), and six grandchildren as well as his brother Alphonse, and sisters, Rosalind Govoni, and Natalie Farina. He was predeceased by his parents.

Visiting hours are at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, Suffern, on Wednesday June 26 from 4-7. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated June 27 at 10:30 am at Saint Boniface Church in Wesley Hills.
