Appelbergh, John W.
John W. Appelbergh died on March 5 2013. He was 86 years old. Born in New York City, he was a life long resident of Yonkers, NY. He was a WWII veteran having enlisted in the Navy in 1942 at the age of 17. He served in the Pacific until his ship was hit by a kamikaze plane and disabled. Upon discharge he returned to New York and worked for Pan American Airways for 44 years. His wife, Donna, worked at Sterns Dept. store until having 2 children. He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Yonkers, a son, Jon (Kathy) of Mahopac, a daughter, Jill Blythe (Steve), of Canadensis, PA, 4 grandchildren, Amy (Paul), Lori (Dan), Kristen and Brian and 2 great-grandchildren, Daniel and Gavin. The family will be present on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Service Saturday 1:30 PM. at F. Ruggiero & Sons FH, 732 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers, NY 10704(914) 375-1400.
