Liddy, Frank J.

Mr. Frank J. Liddy, 79, formerly of Stony Point, NY, died Oct. 14, 2012 at his residence in Barefoot Bay, FL. He was born in Suffern, NY on Jan. 2, 1933. Frank was a U.S. Army veteran, driving fuel tankers during the Korean War. He retired from the L.J. Kennedy Trucking Company in 1995 after 22 years of service and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1995.
Frank was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Moose Legion, #1767, Sebastian, FL, a Life member of VFW Post #10210, Sebastian, FL, a life member of the Elks, Mawah, NJ, a member of Kearsing Edward American Legion Post #1600, Pomona, NY, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sebastian, FL; a 16 year member of the Teamsters Local #560, New Jersey; a 22 year member of the Teamsters Local #445, New York; a member of Fraternal Order of Orioles; a member of the Hillcrest, NY Fire Company.
Frank loved his family and friends and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand when needed. He enjoyed driving trucks and motorcycles and spending time with family and friends at his place near Indian Lake in the Adirondacks. In later years, he truly appreciated all Florida had to offer and liked to remind his northern friends and relatives that he had just turned on the air conditioner and didn't have to shovel snow.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret "M. Joy" Liddy of Barefoot Bay; sons, Robert M. Liddy of Barefoot Bay, Edward M. Liddy of New York, Kenneth H. Whiting of Eustis, FL and Harry Richard "Rick" Vanderhoof of Elmwood Park, NJ; daughters, Rita Lynn Swearingen of Tavares, FL and Mary Chavis of Eustis, FL; cousins, Sandy Nugent of Nyack, NY, Nancy Nugent Jones and her husband, Ken of Middleton, WI, and Roberta Symons Moore of Palm City, FL; 11 grandchildren; 10 Great-grandchildren; 6 grandcousins and 6 great-grandcousins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loretta O'Keefe Liddy; his mother, Elizabeth Stanton; uncle, Robert Nugent; aunt, Bernice Nugent Stoner; and grandparents, Martin and Augusta Waldron Nugent, as well as other dear relatives and friends. Frank was loved and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A graveside service with military honors was held on Oct. 18 at Sebastian Cemetery in Florida. A reception followed at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Sebastian. Strunk Funeral Home assisted the family.
