Uncle Don knew me from the time I was born. I think I was his favorite :) He was ordained on my birthday. He was in and out of our lives growing up; but, I got to know him a bit better as an adult. I would go to visit him in Scarsdale when I lived back east. I brought my friend Brian a few times. The first time I forgot how to get to the house (uncle Don usually picked me up at the airport) we got a little lost and I had to call him at 10:00 pm to ask directions. I never heard the end of that (‘Kathy's the only one who calls me in the middle of the night'). The next day I introduced Brian~~”call me Fr. Driscoll, if I like you in two days, you can call me Fr. Don.”
We had great conversation, dinners at great restaurants and at the neighbors, at Rockland and the Chapel, and of course playing with the dogs. He taught me how to make his cheesecake and how to pray. He spent a lot of time in California baptizing babies, and making cheesecake!! And everytime I left to go anywhere he'd ask ‘Do you need directions Kathy? I don't want another call in the middle of the night!” hahaha
I love you. Thanks for all the kindnesses. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Brian says “Here's to eternal rewards. Still working that puzzle. I'll be seeing you, Fr. Don.”

Father Don, or rather "Uncle Don" was beloved by many, especially the Donovan family, his California family.
As a child, I have fond memories of having Uncle Don have mass in the dining room of my grandparents house, something that no other kids got to have!!!, and having special baking time in their kitchen with my sisters and cousin Jack, where he would allow us to help him make the MOST DELICIOUS cheesecakes! He married my parents and baptized all my siblings and I - I will always have those special connections with him. God Bless Uncle Don. You will be missed by many, especially my grandfather. I know my grampa will continue to tell wonderful stories about him, their time in the army and his priesthood, and so his legacy will live on. We love you Uncle Don. Say Hi to my cousin Jack up there in Heaven - where I know you are. RIP.

Uncle Don, surely we will miss you! You married me and baptized all my children, traveling out to California for all the major family events. I will always be grateful you were part of our "California Family" . At last you'll see your lovely mother again. Your legacy of love and friendship ( as well as the cheesecake and soda bread recipes!) will be with us always RIP. Love Brenda Fuog and family

Father Don and I were in the Army almost 60 years ago. We have been very close friends all the years since. He used to call the Donovan's his Califorrnia family. He married some of my children, baptized the most of them and almost all 11 grandchildrem. He came almost every year. Helped out the local Pastor and delighted in having Mass in the house with all the grandkids. People loved his homilies. I'm ill and can't travel but our prayers from all the the family that, sure in the promise of the resurrection, he has gone on to his richly deserved reward with Christ for eternity. God Bless, Don

Father Driscoll ,
I will always love and miss you. You hold a very special place in my family.......giving my husband his 1st Communion and Confesssion, marrying us and baptizing my son. You kept Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Rockland Psychartric Hospital a welcoming and loving Church. You could say more in a 5 minute homily that most priests could not say in a hour. Our Lady Queen of Peace was not the same after you left. We stopped going there and please pray for us that we find a parish and a priest that makes us feel the way we felt with you. I know you were pain and I'm happy you can rest in peace.
Love,
