Fischer, Anita M.*  
Fischer, Anita M. Anita M. Fischer, 61, of Rosendale, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Albany Medical Center. Born in The Bronx, NY on September 21, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Rooney) McGoldrick. Anita was an RN at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY for over 20 years. She was an active member of St. Peter's Church in Rosendale. Anita leaves to cherish her memory, her son Daniel Fischer of Wallkill; her grandson Brady Fischer; two brothers, Peter McGoldrick and his wife Sheila of Central Valley, and Steve McGoldrick and his wife Mary of Windsor, CT; and many nieces and nephews and their children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 7th, at 10 AM at St. Peter's Church, 1017 Keator Ave., Rosendale. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anita's name to the American Diabetes Association ( www.diabetes.org ).

Freedman, Morton*  
Freedman, Morton Morton Freedman passed away September 2, 2015 in White Plains, NY. He was a longtime resident of North Adams, MA who moved to White Plains, to be with his son and family in 2006. Mort was born July 2, 1924 in North Adams. He was married to his beloved wife, Norma, for 55 wonderful years before she passed in 2006. Mort and Norma also spent many happy years in Florida, most recently at Hunter's Run in Boynton Beach. He was an adoring and loving father to his son, Robert, daughter-in-law Frances Pantaleo, and his grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew. He was a warm, funny and friendly person to the end of his days. He was loved by all who knew him. He attended Drury High School, Syracuse University and received his law degree from Boston University. He served in the Army during World War II stationed in North Africa. He practiced law in North Adams for over 50 years, most recently with the law firm of Freedman DeRosa and Rondeau. He was also the Clerk of the Northern Berkshire District Court. Mort was very involved in North Adams politics and served as Councilman and President of the City Council for many years as well as Chair of numerous Commissions. He was active in Congregation Beth Israel, including serving as Treasurer and on the Board of Directors. Mort loved to play tennis and golf and was a member of North Adams Country Club and Taconic Golf Course. Funeral Services will be held at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home in White Plains at noon on Thursday with interment to follow at Sharon Gardens in Valhalla, NY. The family will be sitting Shiva at 105 Ogden Ave, White Plains Thursday from 7-9, Friday from 2-4 and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Donations may be made to the Carter Burden Center for Aging, Calvary Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association of the Hudson Valley.

Fassnacht, Francis B.*  
Fassnacht, Francis B. Francis B. Fassnacht, a resident of Peekskill, died on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the age of 85. Francis was born in Peekskill on February 9, 1930 to Bernard and Marie Fassnacht, he graduated from Assumption School and from Peekskill High School, Class of 1947. In 1951, he graduated from Union College. From 1951-1991, he worked as an electrical engineer for the Surface Warfare Center in Silver Spring, MD. From 1991-1996, he was an adjunct professor at the Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, CA. Mr. Fassnacht returned to his hometown of Peekskill in February 2006. He lived at Drum Hill for the past nine and a half years. He is survived by his two loving sisters and brothers-in-law, Hilda and William Durr of Buchanan, and Marie and William Croft of Tega Cay, SC. Nine nieces and nephews, 23 great-nieces and nephews, and seven great-grandnieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Fassnacht is predeceased by his brother-in-law George T. LaDue, niece Joan Ferony, and nephew-in-law Arthur Neale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 11:15 AM Assumption Church, Peekskill, followed by interment in Assumption Cemetery. Visiting at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, Peekskill, that morning 10-11 AM.

Fennell, John J.*  
Fennell, John J. John J. (Jack) Fennell, a Yonkers native and longtime, retired Con Edison employee, passed away on Wed., August 26, 2015 after a brave, five-year battle with cancer. He was 64. Jack was born in Yonkers on March 5, 1951 to John and Margaret (Trehey) Fennell. The family for many years owned and operated the former Fennell Funeral Home at 138 Ashburton Ave. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and began working in the gas division at Con Ed soon afterward. When he left the utility in 1993, he was helping oversee the company's gas operations in Westchester County. In later years after moving to northeastern Pennsylvania, he worked as a manager for Continental Airlines at the Wilkes- Barre/Scranton Airport and, in his last and most favored, career, as beverage manager at Mount Airy Casino in the Poconos. Jack loved World War II history, cooking (his own as well as the chefs he followed on the Food Network), a sharp looking suit, and an ice cold Heineken. On July 3, 1978, he married Elizabeth Kinsella, who passed away in 2008. His sister, Mary Ellen Scaplehorn, passed away in 2012. He is survived by three daughters, Tracy (Todd) Fennell-Kent of Jamesburg, NJ; Chris Ann (Beverly McCreary) Moore of Kailua, HI and Kathy (Daniel) Moore O'Connor of Brewster, NY; two sons, John V. Fennell of Boca Raton, Fla. and John F. (Maureen) Moore of Cornwall, NY; a brother, Daniel Fennell of Yonkers, four granddaughters, one grandson and a nephew. Family and friends are making donations in Jack's memory to University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro or The Hospice Program of Princeton HomeCare. There will be a memorial visitation at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Thurs., September 3 from 2-6 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30pm. Ferriter, Roger*  
Ferriter, Roger Roger Ferriter of Larchmont, passed away on August 28, 2015. He was 82. Born in Cranston, RI on September 6, 1932 to George & Olive Ferriter, Roger earned a BFA from RISD and an MFA from Yale, proudly served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corp, was a power hitting minor league baseball player and became a world renowned graphic designer, creating many of the iconic logos and fonts in the 70's and 80's. A teacher for many years at the School of Visual Arts and the author of Typerformance, Roger is perhaps best known as the L'eggs man. In concept, name and design, he was the progenitor of the ubiquitous egg, an idea once referred to as the 'marketing breakthrough of the 20th century.' An avid golfer, fisherman and reader, Roger is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis, loving children, Eugene Ferriter (Maureen), Julianna Bruce (Daniel) and Ken Ferriter (Kathy), step-son Matthew, cherished grandchildren, Elliot, Brianna, Charlotte, Drake and Bella, he was predeceased by his dear brothers Herb, Ted and Chick Ferriter. To honor Roger's life, family and friends will gather on Monday from 4-8 pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME 767 E. Boston Post Rd. Mamaroneck 914-698-5968.
