Duffy, Beatrice A.

Beatrice A. Duffy, a resident of Yonkers passed away on June 30, 2013. She was 90 years old. She was the loving wife of the late William l. Duffy. Cherished mother to William A. Duffy from Yonkers and his wife Joanne Duffy and her sons Travis + Chase Eaione and the late Keith W. Duffy who was killed in action on November 1, 1968 while serving his country in Vietnam. Beatrice worked for Met Life in New York City, NY Telephone in White Plains and later for the NY Times from Oct 1967 until her retirement in March 1989. She will be most remembered for her tireless work as president of the Yonkers chapter of The Gold Star Mothers from 1972 - 2009. She also volunteered at the Kingsbridge VA hospital in the Bronx every Sunday. After singing at her own parish, she would then sing at the hospital's chapel and also volunteer at their smokers clinic and cardiac health clinic. Beatrice loved to sing and was in countless plays with the St Mary's Players and also the St Barnabas Players. Funeral Service Monday July 8th at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church (Boyd & Barnes Avenue - Bronx, NY) Interment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery (Hartsdale, NY). The family will be present Sunday from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. at F. Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. - 732 Yonkers Avenue - Yonkers, NY 10704 (914) 375-1400.
