Donald E. Peterson of Stony Point died suddenly on July 5, 2013. Don was born in NYC on November 11, 1937 to Helen & Edwin Peterson. He served in the U.S. Army and was a proud member of the FDNY for 36 years, retiring as Lieutenant. Don is survived by his loving wife Marilyn of 52 years. His loving children, Donald & Jennifer Peterson of New City and Kristen & Stephen Reynolds of Stony Point. His grandchildren whom were his pride & joy and loves of his life; Robert, Derek, Stephen, Jaclyn, Molly, Dylan, Heidi and his precious great granddaughter Addyson. Don is also survived by his mother-in-law Florence Burk and his in-laws Joan & Walter Dorrian & Robert Burk, niece Jeanne Williams and her children Caitlin and Brian. Don leaves behind many dear friends.

Don was a member of the Stony Point Seniors, The Florians of New City, the FDNY Orange County Retirees, and the North Rockland Social Club. He volunteered regularly at the Haverstraw Brick Museum. Don will always be remembered for his love for his family, especially playing games and having fun with his grandchildren; and his love for sailing and the Hudson River.

The viewing will be held on Tuesday July 9, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 at McGowan's Funeral Home Garnerville, NY. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, July 10 2013 at St. John's the Devine, Tomkins Cove, NY.

Donations may be made in Don's memory to the FDNY Burn Center and the Make A Wish Foundation.
