Mrs. Doris Sanzari (nee Marki), passed away on November 4th, 2012 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Beloved wife of Patrick A Sanzari for 46 years. Devoted mother of Patrick Sanzari and his wife, Jenny of Montvale NJ, Nicole Glazer and her husband George of Blauvelt NY. Loving grandmother to Ashley, Samantha, Hope Glazer and Gabriella Sanzari. She is also survived by her sister Lotti Mosimann and her brother Peter Marki of Switzerland and countless extended family and friends who thought so highly of her. She was predeceased by her parents, Jakob and Rosa Marki.

Doris was born on November 26th, 1943 and was raised in Basel, Switzerland. She was a graduate of the Feldpausch Couturier Ecole in Switzerland where she studied Haute Couture. She immigrated to the United States in 1963 and worked as a Governess for the DuPont family in Paoli, PA. She met her husband, Patrick, a student at Villanova University and they were married on May 22nd, 1965.

Doris raised her family in Montvale NJ and moved to Chestnut Ridge NY in 1972. She was employed by Mercedes Benz of North America from 1988 to 1993 and retired upon the birth of her first granddaughter. She devoted much of her time to all of her grandchildren as this was a source of unending pleasure for her and she showered them with undivided attention and love. Doris was an avid traveler who visited over 50 countries throughout her travels around the world including Namibia, Turkey and Russia. She was an active tennis player and accomplished skier who looked forward to her annual trips to the Swiss Alps especially to the small alpine village of Zermatt. She was a supporter of several charities that were dear to her including the World Wild Life Fund, the Defenders of Wild Life, the American Cancer Society and several Native American charities. She was a devoted mother and wife who created a warm and loving household. She was a dear friend to all those who knew her. Her beautiful smile, generosity and caring nature will be greatly missed.

We would like to thank Dr. Andrew Jennis and the staff at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center, the Good Samaritan Hospital Home Care Agency, United Hospice of Rockland, and most importantly all the family and friends who provided us with support and love throughout this struggle.

Per her wishes, her services will be private. Arrangements were provided by Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doris' name to The Lustgarten Foundation to assist in advancing Pancreatic Cancer research and finding a cure. Donations in honor of Doris can be mailed to The Lustgarten Foundation 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714.
