Helen Adler passed away on Thursday, November 1st. She was a long time resident of Suffern, New York. Born in Poland on November 6, 1923, she survived the holocaust and came to America in 1947 with her husband and one child. After living in Brooklyn for a year and a half, she moved to Suffern in 1949 with her husband and their two children.

In Suffern, Helen and Hymie, who passed away in 2003, opened Adler's Kosher Meat Market on Orange Avenue and later moved the store to Lafayette Avenue. Helen resided continuously in Suffern for sixty three years. She was an active member of Congregation Sons of Israel which later became Montebello Jewish Center. She also served on the Ladies Auxillary of Good Samaritan Hospital as well as several other charitable organizations including The Holocaust Center of Rockland County. She and her husband were interviewed and recorded a tape for Steven Spielberg's Shoah Foundation.

She is survived by her children, Melvin Adler of Scarsdale, NY and Florence Greenberg of Mahwah, NJ. Her Daughter-in-law Karen Adler, four grandchildren: Howard Greenberg, Joshua Adler and his wife Leslie, Deborah Adler Silverman and her husband Eric, and David Adler. She also had four great grandchildren: Zachary and Lindsay Adler and Sophia and Jaden Silverman.

Funeral Services will be held at Montebello Jewish Center today, Sunday, November 4th at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Montebello Jewish Center Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY. Memorial contributions in Helen's memory can be made to Montebello Jewish Center in Suffern, NY or The Holocaust Center of Rockland County.
