James Louis Fischer died Nov. 7 at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport, NY. He was 64.
Jim Fischer was born Aug. 17, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Louis and Edith (Hesemann) Fischer. The family moved to Yonkers in 1950.
He graduated from the Concordia Preparatory School in Bronxville, NY in 1966, received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University
in 1970 and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1976.
Jim married Joyce Gabbert of Bronxville, NY in 1969. He is survived by his wife, his daughters, Christina and her husband, Kenneth Johnson of Greensboro, NC and Rebecca and her husband, John Connor of Newton, MA; his brother, Stephen and his wife, Nancy, of Armonk, NY; and four grandchildren, Fischer, Katherine, Nolan and Skye and nephews, Brian and Brendan and a niece, Megan.
Together with his partner, Bernard London, Jim was a founding partner in the law firm London Fischer in New York City.
Jim served as treasurer for the Village Lutheran Church in Bronxville, NY and chairman of the zoning board of appeals for the Village of Bronxville. He enjoyed sailing, hiking, golf, photography and was an accomplished pianist.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15th at 2:30pm at the Village Lutheran Church.
