DeMarzo, Joseph L.
Joseph L. DeMarzo, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and loyal friend to many, died peacefully on February 2, 2013. He was 87 years old. Born in Yonkers, NY, on October 9, 1925 to Joseph and Rose DeMarzo, he was member of the International Union of Operating Engineers until his retirement in 1992. Joe was a 1943 graduate of Roosevelt High School, and served in the 106th Infantry Division during World War II
in Europe. He was decorated for action in the Battle of the Bulge in December, 1944. He was active in his community as a parishioner of St. Eugene's Church and a baseball and football coach in Henry S. Richards Little League. In his retirement, Joe was a member of the Hudson Valley Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary, and his brothers-in-law Reverend Monsignor John L. Guido and Reverend Monsignor William F. Guido, both of New York City. Joe is survived by his daughter Joanne Boyle (Timothy) of Louisville, KY, son Joseph Jr., (Denise), of White Plains, daughter Mary Ellen Sanchez (Carlos) of Yonkers, and son William (Marianne) of Norwalk, CT, and grandchildren Carla, Jacqui, John, Timothy, Joseph, William and Thomas. Friends and family are invited to pay respects at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY, on Monday, February 4th, between 2 and 4 pm and 7 and 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Tuesday, February 5th at St. Bartholomew Church, 15 Palmer Road, Yonkers, NY, followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Rest Nursing Home, 3304 Waterbury Avenue, Bronx, NY 10465.
